Chin Botox

What is Masseter Botox ( Jaw Botox )?

Bruxism is the medical term for unconsciously clenching and grinding teeth while awake and asleep, which can lead to physically painful and severe dental problems. Chronic teeth grinding can cause headaches, earaches, facial pain, and even migraines. Dental problems from bruxism include loss of tooth enamel, increased tooth sensitivity, and flattening and chipping of teeth. Hypertrophy of the masseter muscle, which can cause a severe square chin appearance, is another side effect of bruxism. Jaw botox is the reduction of function for a certain period of time by applying botox material to the overactive jaw muscles. During this period, while there is no restriction in eating and speaking movements, the clenching activity completely disappears.

How is Masseter Botox Made ?

By injecting small doses of botulinum toxin directly into the masseter muscle (the large muscle that moves the jaw), the muscle is weakened enough to stop involuntary grinding of teeth and clenching of the jaw. This significantly relaxes the muscles and reduces the wear and tear of teeth from grinding. Voluntary movements such as chewing and facial expressions are not affected by botox at all. During this process, which takes about 10 minutes, the individual does not feel any pain. After this process is completed, it is possible to return to business life quickly.
The effect of chin botox starts 3 days after it is applied, and its effect reaches its maximum at the end of 10 days. Depending on the content of the material, its effect lasts around 4-6 months. Since the muscle is not used for 6 months, there is a decrease in muscle volume and strength. Another advantage is that the swollen area at the corner of the chin looks thinner. At the end of 6 months, it can be applied again if needed.
